Our Kitchen Social Enterprise
Business Overview
Our Kitchen Social Enterprise (OKSE) is a hands-on hospitality training program based at the Ballarat South Community Hub. It?s a place where people looking to build new skills, especially those facing long-term unemployment, can find practical experience and a supportive community. Each week, students and volunteers work side by side in a commercial kitchen, learning everything from basic food prep to front-of-house service, all under the guidance of experienced chefs and trainers.
OKSE is well known for its Friday community lunches, where a generous two-course meal brings together up to 100 locals, many of them older residents. The program?s roots are in social inclusion and food relief, with a strong focus on creating pathways to employment and education. Whether you?re joining a cooking class, helping out with meal prep, or just dropping in for lunch, you?ll find a welcoming, down-to-earth atmosphere and a sense of purpose that runs through everything they do.
